Castle Wall with Drawbridge

Our medieval castle included features from historical models, including this drawbridge.

Ann Logsdon
The outer castle was made from a cardboard box. The walls were made from paper mache pressed flat. Brick shapes were drawn into the materials using a plastic knife. After drying, the wall was painted with gray paint and attached to the wall of the box with tacky glue. The drawbridge simply cut from the side of the box and painted brown. Wood grain detail was added using a marker. The bridge is embellished with raffia to represent rope. Dried moss was attached to the sides of the walls to add decorative detail.
