Dyslexia is a challenge for parents, educators, and people who live with it. The Dyslexia Checklist covers:
- Background information on the disorder such as symptoms and diagnosis;
- Strategies to help with reading, language, and writing, which are typically problematic for children;
- Interventions to strengthen critical skills such as phonological awareness, vocabulary, spelling, and literacy;
- Planning and organizational skills;
- Checklists for parents and teachers addressing the child's emotional needs, homework, adaptations and modifications, assistive technology, and finding a tutor;
- Must reads on high school, college, response to intervention, special education, IEPs, and more.
I found this book difficult to put down because it has so much information presented in quick, easy-to-process bits. The topics are well organized and comprehensive. Parents and teachers will find multiple suggestions for coping with dyslexia, instructional strategies, overviews of programs and where to find them, and more.
