Definition: Confidential File: A disabled student's confidential file is maintained by the school and contains special education or Section 504 documents such as evaluations conducted to determine eligibility for IDEA or 504 programs, individual education programs, IEP team meeting forms, and other relevant documents. Parents have a right to inspect the file and have copies of any information contained in it. All of these files are protected by FERPA and must be kept confidential.

Examples:
The child's confidential file included evaluations and IEP team paperwork.
