Mistakes to Avoid When Filing a Complaint

Problems with your special education child's school can be a frustrating experience for you, your child, and the school staff. If your child is covered by IDEA or Section 504, there are regulations providing you with ways to address these problems such as formal complaints, mediation, and due process hearings under IDEA. Section 504 allows formal complaints and civil suits. Before you act, learn how to avoid common mistakes that are not helpful and may be harmful to your child's program and your relationship with her school.

Thanks, this is good information to know. Too many of us (parents) really don’t know what our rights are and we don’t often understand all of the educational jargon that is often presented to us. More on this would be great.
