Brief - What Is a Brief in Special Education Due Process?

Definition: Brief: In a special education or section 504, due process hearing or court proceeding, a brief is a written document stating a party's position that includes allegations, facts, and references to case law that is submitted to a hearing officer or judge for consideration and a decision.

Examples: The attorney submitted a brief to the hearing officer that explained important information about autism treatment programs.
