Affidavit - Learn about Affidavits in Special Education Due Process Hearings

Definition: An affidavit in a special education due process hearing is a written document that has been signed by a person with information relevant to the case. A person who signs an affidavit must make an oath that the content is accurate. The affidavit must be signed and sworn in the presence of a legal authority. Judges, hearing officers, or attorneys may witness the signing of an affidavit.

Examples:
The witness signed an affidavit detailing his involvement with the special education programs.
