Special Education Advocacy Mistakes that May Harm Your Child

Thursday February 28, 2008
Perhaps it was the recent full moon or eclipse. I really don't know why, but I had so many annoying advocacy calls over the last two weeks that I wanted to scream. First let me say that I see advocacy as a very necessary and important service. What really annoys me though is when people who do it poorly cause more problems for kids and schools than they resolve. Sometimes I really wish I could tell parents when their advocate is not helping or is hurting their situation. While I can't say things like that in my job, I can do the next best thing - tell you about the most important things you need to know about advocacy.
